Penguins offer support to Andrei Kuzmenko after tragic loss of his father

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko will be away from the club indefinitely following the death of his father, Alexander Kuzmenko. The 62-year-old was killed in a bear attack during a fishing trip in Russia on Wednesday. Penguins president and general manager Kyle Dubas announced that the forward practiced with the team before traveling to Moscow to join his family.

Kuzmenko, 30, signed a one-year, $5 million contract with Pittsburgh in July. Head coach Dan Muse and teammate Ilya Solovyov expressed their support for the forward ahead of the Penguins' season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers on September 30.
