Flyers players tuck jerseys in protest during warmups after Trevor Zegras penalty

Philadelphia Flyers players tucked their jerseys into their pants during warmups on Saturday ahead of a preseason game against the Washington Capitals. The team demonstration was a lighthearted response to teammate Trevor Zegras receiving a delay of game penalty on Thursday against the Boston Bruins. The Flyers' mascot Gritty and several fans also joined in by tucking in their jerseys.

Under NHL Rule 9.5, improperly wearing equipment carries a warning followed by a minor penalty on a second violation, which league officials are strictly enforcing this season. Flyers coach Rick Tocchet noted the team had been warned about the rule previously and emphasized players must comply once the regular season begins.
