Writer Jamey Baskow argues that Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov is the team's most dangerous offensive player despite seeing limited ice time. Michkov leads the Flyers with six goals and seven points through the first 11 games of the 2026-27 season, including a two-goal performance in a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Despite this scoring output, his ice time continues to average roughly 14 minutes and 51 seconds per game.
Baskow notes that under head coach Rick Tocchet, defensive details, turnovers, and short shifts have constrained Michkov's deployment. In the recent contest against Colorado, Michkov logged just 14:37 of ice time while players like Jacob Gaucher and Cole Knuble received comparable or higher even-strength minutes. Michkov stated following the game that he feels good and wants to play more to support the team.
