Erik Karlsson knew the right thing to say at the wrong time.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are struggling through an ongoing four-game losing streak following a 6-2 home defeat to the Boston Bruins on Thursday. With a 5-9-2 record and just 12 points, the team sits in 15th place in the Eastern Conference, narrowly ahead of only the Philadelphia Flyers.
TribLIVE notes that unlike the previous season, when a strong start helped Pittsburgh overcome an eight-game slump, the Penguins currently have no margin for error amid a 2-7-1 stretch. Team captain Sidney Crosby and goaltender Arturs Silovs emphasized the need to focus simply on winning the next game as Pittsburgh prepares to open a road trip against the Los Angeles Kings.
