The Pittsburgh Penguins’ team plane returned after takeoff from Salt Lake City on Tuesday after forward Ben Kindel had a medical emergency.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ben Kindel suffered a medical emergency on Tuesday while on the team charter flight from Salt Lake City, prompting the plane to return shortly after takeoff. Team physician Dr. Dharmesh Vyas and medical staff treated the 19-year-old on board before an ambulance transported him to the University of Utah Hospital. The team confirmed Kindel is conscious, alert, and in stable condition.
Kindel had played 18:53 on Monday against the Mammoth, concluding a four-game road trip. The forward, who recorded 17 goals and 35 points in his rookie season, has two goals and four points across nine games this season. The Penguins had scheduled a travel day Tuesday ahead of a Wednesday practice in Cranberry.
