The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated prospect Melvin Fernstrom from injured/non-roster status and reassigned him to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The 20-year-old missed training camp while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but he has now been cleared to return to action.
Originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 2024, Fernstrom was acquired by Pittsburgh in the Marcus Pettersson trade. This marks the first season of his three-year entry-level contract after his deal slid last year.
