The Pittsburgh Penguins have been linked to Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson as a potential future offensive cornerstone, according to insider Rick Dhaliwal. While Dhaliwal reported that Pittsburgh holds some degree of interest in acquiring Pettersson via trade, he noted that no deal is currently close and Pettersson has not been asked to waive his no-move clause.
Pettersson is currently in the 2026-27 season and has six years remaining on his contract, which carries an $11.6 million average annual cap hit totaling $92.8 million over eight years. Pittsburgh is reportedly monitoring center options as franchise icons Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin approach the final stages of their respective careers.
