The Pittsburgh Penguins made it a point this offseason to acquire Nick Robertson from the Toronto Maple Leafs. And early in the year, the Penguins showed how much they like Robertson — they gave him time on the first line…

Billy Heyen argues that the Pittsburgh Penguins' decision to demote forward Nick Robertson to the fourth line is confusing given his early-season production. After starting the campaign alongside Sidney Crosby on the top line, Robertson has experienced a notable decline in ice time across his last four games despite scoring four goals in seven appearances.
The Penguins acquired Robertson from the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1 in exchange for a 2028 fourth-round draft pick. Pittsburgh subsequently signed the restricted free agent to a two-year, $6.5 million contract, and Heyen suggests Robertson's strong play could soon earn him a promotion back up the lineup.
