The Pittsburgh Penguins set a cool NHL record on Wednesday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 7-0 in their season opener on Wednesday night. According to OptaStats, the victory set an NHL record for the largest road shutout in a season-opening game. It also matched Pittsburgh's largest margin of victory against Philadelphia, tying a 7-0 win from 1988.
Fourteen of the Penguins' 18 skaters recorded at least one point during the contest. Goaltender Arturs Silovs earned a shutout in his season debut for the second consecutive season. Pittsburgh will face the Montreal Canadiens in their home opener on Saturday.
