The Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly willing to trade veteran forwards to create roster spots for their young prospects, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Following a 3-5-1 start to the 2026-27 NHL season, Pittsburgh aims to clear room after impressive minor-league performances from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forwards Avery Hayes and Rutger McGroarty, among others.
While Friedman did not specify names, Gabriel Foley highlights Connor Dewar, Elmer Soderblom, and injured forward Justin Brazeau as potential trade candidates. Foley also suggests Pittsburgh could pursue bolder moves by trading veteran wingers Bryan Rust or Rickard Rakell to acquire future assets.
