The Pittsburgh Penguins have a matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night in what is a pretty light NHL slate. Through four games played in the early going of the 2026-27 season, the Penguins are 2-2-0 (four points)…

The Pittsburgh Penguins placed 26-year-old defenseman Ilya Solovyov on waivers on Friday ahead of their matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The transaction was first reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Pittsburgh entered the game with a 2-2-0 record through four games in the 2026-27 NHL regular season.
Solovyov made Pittsburgh's Opening Night roster but was a healthy scratch for the team's first four contests. If he clears waivers unclaimed, he is expected to be assigned to the AHL to receive regular playing time while remaining a depth option for the Penguins.
