The Detroit Red Wings announced Thursday that star forward Dylan Larkin has been suspended without pay after stating he will no longer play for the franchise. Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff confirmed the suspension and stated the team will continue exploring potential trade options. The decision followed Larkin's absence from morning skate, with the 30-year-old set to forfeit $41,000 per day during the disciplinary action.
Larkin originally requested a trade in June and recently expanded his approved trade list from three to ten teams. The forward, who holds a no-trade clause on his eight-year, $8.7 million annual contract, was stripped of the Detroit captaincy before the season began.
