San Jose Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov restructured his summer preparation ahead of the upcoming NHL season, focusing on strength, nutrition, and injury prevention. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky indicated that the team wants Askarov to seize the starting role and display greater consistency over the course of the campaign.
Askarov added 10 pounds of muscle, collaborated with a new goalie coach and strength trainer, and learned how to swim. Additionally, Askarov demonstrated technical adjustments on a whiteboard with goaltending coach Thomas Speer and welcomed the elevated expectations alongside fellow goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic.
