The Story in 60 Seconds

San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky is not on the hot seat despite recent struggles, according to Pierre LeBrun on TSN's Insider Trading. Sharks general manager Mike Grier is reportedly not contemplating a coaching change at this stage. Speculation grew after the Sharks dropped five of their last six games, including a 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings that prompted a players-only meeting.

Warsofsky signed a multi-year extension prior to the season following a 34-point improvement in the standings. Expectations increased after Grier committed over $100 million in the off-season to Mason Marchment, Darnell Nurse, Jacob Trouba, and Michael Kesselring. However, poor five-on-five play and injuries to Alex Wennberg and Igor Chernyshov have contributed to San Jose's recent slump.
