The San Jose Sharks have officially reassigned defenseman Mattias Havelid to their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. The 22-year-old blueliner had been sidelined by an upper-body injury that caused him to miss the rookie showcase, training camp, and preseason action, leading the Sharks to initially designate him as an injured non-roster player.
Now cleared to return, Havelid heads to the AHL with no room available on San Jose's 23-man NHL roster. Selected 45th overall in the 2022 draft, Havelid posted 15 points in 44 games for the Barracuda during his North American debut last season.
