‘He’s Got That Kind Of Blues Spirit In Him,’ Dylan Peterson’s Compete, Physical Natural Making Strong Impression On Blues

St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Peterson has made a strong impression on head coach Jim Montgomery through the first two preseason games. The 6-foot-4 forward recorded fights in both matchups, dropping the gloves with veteran defenseman Kyle Burroughs in the opener and Jack Anderson against the Dallas Stars. Montgomery praised Peterson's physical presence and compete level, noting he possesses genuine Blues spirit as he attempts to secure an NHL opening-night roster spot.

Peterson was drafted 86th overall by the Blues in 2020 and signed a one-year, two-way contract extension this offseason. Over his first two AHL seasons, Peterson recorded 25 goals and 46 points in 109 games. Montgomery noted that while Peterson has yet to register a point this preseason, the coaching staff wants him to continue leaning into his physical identity on the forecheck.
