The Detroit Red Wings’ early-season scoring drought has quietly put them in the market for proven offense, and unrestricted free agent Patrik Laine has drawn internal consideration as a potential short-term answer.
The Detroit Red Wings have internally discussed pursuing unrestricted free agent winger Patrik Laine to address their early-season scoring struggles. According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Detroit has considered signing the 28-year-old forward for the remainder of the season, though no direct contact has been made with Laine or his camp yet.
After starting the season 1-3-1 and scoring just 10 goals in five games, Detroit is considering a heavily performance-laden free agent deal. Laine, who played only five games last season, could potentially sign near league minimum base salary, offering Detroit a low-risk offensive option.
