This former Lightning defenseman has been placed on waivers by the Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks have placed defenseman Jack Thompson on waivers. The former Tampa Bay Lightning blueliner had missed time due to an injury sustained earlier in the 2026-27 season. Now healthy and ready to return to action, Thompson can be claimed by other teams seeking defensive depth or assigned to Vancouver's AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, if he clears.
Thompson was originally selected 93rd overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with Tampa Bay in the 2023-24 season before being traded to the San Jose Sharks in a deal that sent Anthony Duclair to the Lightning.
