Lightning Insider Shares Honest Take on Nikita Kucherov Trade Request

Tampa Bay sportscaster and journalist Steve Carney voiced serious concern regarding reported trade request rumors surrounding Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov. According to insider Elliotte Friedman, Kucherov has requested a trade and does not plan to re-sign with the franchise. Carney warned that the Lightning risk losing another elite player for nothing, comparing the situation to Steven Stamkos's past departure to Nashville.

Kevin Weekes reported that Kucherov was offered contract extensions of $13 million and subsequently $15 million annually. In addressing potential permanent trade outcomes, Carney questioned if Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois might consider a deal with the Detroit Red Wings involving disgruntled forward Dylan Larkin.
