The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Mads Søgaard from their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. The move comes as netminder Dennis Hildeby is sidelined with an undisclosed ailment and is not expected to dress for the game against the New York Rangers. Starting goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is slated to start in net, with Søgaard serving as the backup.
Søgaard is in his first season with the Lightning organization after previously spending six seasons with the Ottawa Senators. Through his first three AHL appearances with Syracuse this season, the 25-year-old netminder compiled a 1-1-0 record with a .937 save percentage and a 1.73 goals-against average.
