The Syracuse Crunch recovered from a 1-3 start to the season with consecutive victories over the Rochester Americans and the Hamilton Hammers. The Hockey Writers highlighted Matteo Pietroniro, Lucas Mercuri, and Sam O’Reilly as the standout performers during the weekend sweep. Pietroniro made his season debut on defense, recording a goal and an assist against Hamilton, while Mercuri tallied four points across the two games, including the game-winner against the Hammers.
Rookie forward Sam O’Reilly scored his first professional goal against Rochester on the power play and contributed significantly to Syracuse's penalty-killing unit alongside Brendan Furry, Jakob Pelletier, and Jansen Harkins. Head coach Joel Bouchard praised the team's penalty kill, which successfully killed 13 of 14 penalties over the two games, as the Crunch prepare for another matchup against Rochester.
