Would You Make This Blockbuster Oilers Trade for Kucherov?

Vivek Kalia proposes a hypothetical blockbuster trade sending Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov to the Edmonton Oilers. Under the proposed package, Edmonton would acquire Kucherov with a pre-negotiated contract extension in exchange for forward Matthew Savoie, first-round draft picks in 2028 and 2029, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2028 third-round pick originally from St. Louis.

Kalia argues that pairing Kucherov with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl would be worth the cost, though significant hurdles exist. Absorbing Kucherov's $9.5 million cap hit would require clearing salary by moving Jake Walman or Tristan Jarry, while Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois has stated the team has no intention of trading Kucherov.
