The Story in 60 Seconds

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Emil Andrae and forward Danton Heinen on waivers, giving other NHL clubs 24 hours to claim them before potential assignment to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. Andrae, who was recently acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs as part of the blockbuster Kirill Marchenko trade, had appeared in only five games this season while recording two assists.

Andrae joined Columbus alongside Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, and a 2027 second-round pick in exchange for Marchenko, Miles Wood, and Elvis Merzlikins. While Andrae faces an AHL demotion, Knies is also experiencing a dry spell, failing to score a goal and registering only one point across his last 11 games.
