The Toronto Maple Leafs head coach wants to see more from one of his stars.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Jim Hiller has addressed winger William Nylander's recent performances, suggesting he needs to adjust his playing style to get the puck more often. Despite tallying 10 goals and 21 points in 17 games this season, Nylander agreed that he has not possessed the puck as much as usual. Hiller noted following Wednesday's practice that Nylander should retreat deeper into the defensive zone to support breakouts rather than waiting in the neutral zone.
Writer Thomas Williams argues that Nylander has been noticeable in a bad way recently and lacks impactful play. Williams notes that asking the 30-year-old winger to focus on defensive responsibilities and puck-moving could potentially hinder his goal-scoring strengths. Nylander is expected to skate alongside Nick Paul and the returning John Tavares when Toronto hosts the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
