Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares and his wife have welcomed their fourth child, leading the veteran to sit out Saturday's game against the Colorado Avalanche. Tavares is expected to have his next opportunity to return on Tuesday against Utah as he spends time with his growing family.
In addition to caring for a newborn and three other children, Tavares is also hosting 18-year-old rookie Gavin McKenna in his home. With Tavares sidelined for Saturday's matchup, Zack MacEwen and Miles Wood are potential candidates to enter the lineup for head coach Jim Hiller.
