The Toronto Maple Leafs finally got some good news.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to regain defenseman Chris Tanev for Saturday's matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. The 36-year-old blueliner has missed nine consecutive games following an injury suffered against the Colorado Avalanche on October 10. His return provides crucial reinforcement to a Toronto defensive unit that has dealt with multiple injuries throughout the early season.
Tanev was paired alongside Morgan Rielly during Friday's practice, while Jake McCabe skated with Darren Raddysh. Teammate Troy Stecher praised Tanev's impact, calling him an irreplaceable player. The Leafs enter the contest looking to rebound defensively after difficult consecutive performances against the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken.
