After overhauling their roster over the offseason, grabbing five points in the first five games is not a bad start for the new-look Toronto Maple Leafs.
The overhauled Toronto Maple Leafs travel to face the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night during a three-game road trip. Led by new head coach Jim Hiller and 2026 No. 1 overall pick Gavin McKenna, Toronto enters the matchup with five points through its first five games following an offseason roster shakeup. Forward Miles Wood was recalled from the AHL and is expected to make his Maple Leafs debut against his former team.
Colorado returns home following a 7-3 victory over the Calgary Flames, paced by Nathan MacKinnon's hot start and veteran addition Jaden Schwartz. MacKinnon already has eight points on the season, while Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews and Cale Makar anchor the defense. Avalanche forward Logan O'Connor remains away from the team following the sudden passing of his father, Myles O'Connor.
