Jack Thompson was injured before training camp began.

The Vancouver Canucks have placed 24-year-old defenseman Jack Thompson on waivers. If he clears, the team expects to assign him to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. Thompson began the campaign dealing with an injury sustained after taking a puck to the face prior to Training Camp in Penticton.
Thompson signed a one-year, $850,000 contract extension with Vancouver during the off-season after being acquired from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Jett Woo. In his career, the right-shot blueliner has registered 10 points in 34 NHL games alongside 104 points across 217 regular-season AHL appearances.
