Heavy Sports proposes a speculative trade pitch sending Boston Bruins defenseman Henri Jokiharju to the Vancouver Canucks for a 2030 seventh-round pick. Jokiharju, who carries a $3 million cap hit through 2027-28 on his $9 million contract, cleared waivers after failing to make Boston's opening roster. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins are actively looking to trade Jokiharju to find him a new home and clear cap space.
Writer Michael DeRosa argues that the Vancouver Canucks need additional defensive depth, particularly on the right side of their blueline. DeRosa suggests Jokiharju could serve on Vancouver's bottom or second pairing and feature on the penalty kill. Last season, the 27-year-old defenseman recorded two goals and 15 points across 41 games for Boston.
