Cal Petersen Signs Contract With Hershey Bears After Stevenson Claim, Capitals Camp

Goaltender Cal Petersen has signed a one-year contract with the AHL's Hershey Bears after completing a professional tryout during Washington Capitals training camp. Petersen arrives in Hershey to replace netminder Clay Stevenson, who was claimed off waivers by the Winnipeg Jets following four seasons with the Capitals organization.

The 30-plus game veteran provides Hershey with goaltending depth and an experienced mentor for young goaltenders Mitch Gibson and Garin Bjorklund. Petersen spent last season with the Iowa Wild, posting a 13-16-2 record, and holds 106 games of NHL experience.
