Championship club Oldham have secured contract extensions for young talents Valu Tane Bentley and Finlay Irwin ahead of the 2027 season. Both players are the sons of former Roughyeds players and joined the squad toward the end of the 2026 campaign. Head coach Alan Kilshaw praised the duo's development and expressed excitement about their long-term potential within the team.
Bentley, a 23-year-old back-rower, previously featured in the Leigh Leopards reserve system along with spells at Keighley Cougars and Dewsbury Rams. Irwin came through the Wigan and Warrington academy setups and spent time with the Brisbane Tigers in Australia before signing his extension with Oldham.
