The Penrith superstar will have a third surgery in the next fortnight – and when Penrith officials expect him to be back.
Penrith Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary is set to undergo a third surgical procedure to address a severe ankle injury. Sources confirm Cleary will have tightrope surgery to repair a ruptured syndesmosis suffered in a preliminary final tackle. Penrith officials remain optimistic that Cleary will recover in time for the club's round-one fixture next season.
The operation follows earlier surgeries to repair a broken fibula, dislocated tibia, and a fractured fifth metatarsal. Cleary is currently progressing in his recovery at home and is also expected to formalize a four-year contract extension with the Panthers worth approximately $1.7 million per season.
