Departing Penrith duo reveal reasons for Perth move, reflect on career of coincidences

Penrith Panthers players Jack Cole and Liam Henry have revealed their reasons for signing with the expansion NRL club Perth Bears. Both players grew up near each other in central-west New South Wales, came through Penrith's junior system, and made their NRL debuts together. They are departing the reigning premiership club to join the new Western Australian franchise.

Cole signed a permanent three-year contract with the Perth Bears running through the end of 2029 following discussions with officials including Mal Meninga. The 22-year-old explained that the move offers an opportunity to secure a regular starting spot rather than serving as injury cover.
