The concept has already been used in the AFL and other global sporting competitions.

The National Rugby League is preparing to consider introducing its own version of a Wildcard Weekend. ARL Commission chairman Peter V'landys will reportedly begin discussions with all NRL clubs to evaluate the concept and explore whether it can be launched as early as next season.
The proposal seeks to re-imagine postseason qualification, drawing inspiration from similar playoff structures previously utilized by the Australian Football League and other major sports competitions across the globe.
