St Helens have announced that Chief Executive Officer Abi Ekoku has departed the club with immediate effect to return to London for family reasons. Ekoku, a former Great Britain and England international, had taken on the CEO role earlier in 2026 after succeeding long-serving executive Mike Rush.
Following Ekoku's departure, St Helens confirmed a board restructure and appointed long-standing director Joe Nicholl as Chief Operating Officer. Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus thanked Ekoku for his service and expressed full confidence in Nicholl taking charge of the club's commercial, operational, and financial functions.
