St Helens recruit Tom Starling has explained that head coach Kevin Walters was a major factor in his decision to move to the Super League. Speaking on The Chad Townsend Show, the former Canberra Raiders hooker revealed that after sensing his time in the NRL was coming to an end, a direct call and vision outlined by Walters prompted him to commit to the move.
Starling departs Canberra after making 155 NRL appearances since 2019, joining fellow recruits Sean O'Sullivan, Christian Tuipulotu, and Solomona Faataape at St Helens. Describing his aggressive, defensive style of play, Starling expressed excitement about testing himself against the physical nature of Super League collisions.
