Super League-linked NRL centre secures release as 2027 decision made

New Zealand Warriors centre Adam Pompey has secured an early release from the final year of his contract to pursue a move to an Australian NRL club for the 2027 season. The club officially announced his departure following their recent playoff defeat against the Newcastle Knights, ending previous speculation that Pompey could transition to the Super League in England.

Pompey leaves the Warriors after eight seasons and more than 130 NRL matches since his first-grade debut in 2019. Warriors general manager of recruitment, pathways, and development Andrew McFadden praised the 28-year-old's consistent contributions during his tenure and wished him well in his upcoming move to Australia.
