The Story in 60 Seconds

A statement from UK Anti-Doping revealed that the 27-year-old returned an adverse analytical finding after a match against Wakefield Trinity in late March. Trout admitted to smoking a joint and eating a cannabis gummy in the week preceding the match.

Trout was provisionally suspended on May 22, and his one-month suspension was served through June 21 after completing an approved substance of abuse treatment programme. The forward, who made 26 appearances for Leigh across the 2026 season, is set to join NRL club Cronulla Sharks starting from the 2027 season.
