He is among the most powerful and ruthless figures in rugby league and on Monday evening, Roosters supremo Nick Politis once again made good on that reputation.
The Sydney Roosters sensationally withdrew their contract extension offer for halfback Sam Walker after contract negotiations collapsed, according to reports detailed on NRL 360. Roosters chairman Nick Politis pulled the deal after Walker missed a critical Monday deadline and requested additional money, leaving Politis reportedly devastated and emotional over the breakdown with the young playmaker.
Walker had reportedly been offered a multi-year deal worth up to $1.4 million per season with salary cap ratchets, and the club had prepared an official announcement. However, after Walker asked his agent for more money rather than confirming the agreement, Politis instructed recruitment boss Joel Carbone to cancel the offer entirely.
