Nel Metcalfe believes Wales are a different team to the one she left behind as she prepares to return to Test rugby.

Wales full-back Nel Metcalfe is set to make her return to Test rugby after recovering from a recurring knee injury. The 21-year-old was selected in Sean Lynn's squad for Wales' upcoming WXV Global Series fixtures against Japan in Tokyo and Kumagaya City this October. Metcalfe has not featured internationally since Wales suffered a 28-25 defeat against Fiji at the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025.
Metcalfe missed the 2026 Guinness Women's Six Nations during her rehabilitation but confirmed she is now 100% fit and back in full training. Wales recently opened their WXV Global Series campaign with a 50-19 victory over South Africa before falling 26-24 to the USA Women's Eagles in Cardiff.
