Dan Carter, Richie McCaw and George Gregan have played in a combined 12 World Cups, and won five. They’ve shared some insights into fast-approaching 2027 tournament in Australia.
All Blacks legend Dan Carter advised the Wallabies to embrace and learn from their failed 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign ahead of hosting the 2027 tournament. Speaking in Sydney alongside Richie McCaw and George Gregan, Carter explained that reviewing New Zealand's disastrous 2007 tournament was crucial to their subsequent World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015.
Carter and McCaw highlighted the importance of harnessing home support rather than letting it become pressure. The trio, appearing on behalf of the Global Rugby Players Foundation, also discussed the open race for the 2027 title, noting South Africa's strength alongside recent Australian improvements under coach Les Kiss.
