Ardie Savea is embracing being in an "unexpected place" after signing with the Blues on a one-year deal following the collapse of Moana Pasifika, acknowledging the move wasn't exactly on his career bingo card.

All Blacks captain Ardie Savea has signed a one-year deal with the Blues following the collapse of Moana Pasifika. The loose forward announced the move during a livestream on his YouTube channel, confirming he will play the final year of his New Zealand Rugby contract in Auckland alongside former Hurricanes coach Jason Holland.
Savea explained that personal growth, club culture, and close connections with teammates influenced his decision alongside his ambition to win a championship. The signing bolsters a Blues squad adjusting to the departures of loose forwards Dalton Papali'i and Hoskins Sotutu while welcoming back Rieko Ioane.
