Leinster coach Robin McBryde has defended prop Tadhg Furlong after he was cited for an alleged groin-grabbing incident involving Munster’s Gavin Coombes. McBryde stated that he would readily provide Furlong with a character reference, emphasizing that the 33-year-old Ireland international has no prior history of such conduct. The incident occurred during Saturday's United Rugby Championship match at the Aviva Stadium.
While match referee Andrew Brace and TMO Colin Stanley found no initial evidence on the pitch, citing commissioner Peter Ferguson lodged a complaint under Law 9.27. If the charge is upheld by the disciplinary panel, Furlong could miss Ireland's upcoming Nations Championship fixtures. Leinster head coach Leo Cullen and Munster supremo Clayton McMillan have also acknowledged the seriousness of the citing process.
