Ryan Lonergan made his debut for the Wallabies in Auckland last year. He returns this week as one of the team’s most important players.
Wallabies legend George Gregan praised 11-Test Australian halfback Ryan Lonergan, calling him outstanding and likening his playing style to former South Africa star Fourie Du Preez. The 28-year-old Brumbies skipper has started every Test for Australia this year after capitalizing on injuries to Jake Gordon and Tate McDermott in July, also drawing praise from Dan Carter.
Lonergan's strong passing and accurate kicking, including converting 30 of 33 goal attempts since July, have made him a core asset in steering the Wallabies' attack. Gregan highlighted Lonergan's ruck scanning and poise, while Carter noted that his calm leadership provides vital stability alongside an inexperienced five-eighth.
