Ilona Maher's return to rugby is just around the corner after she was named for a preseason training tour of New Zealand.

Ilona Maher is set to return to rugby competition after being selected for the USA Women's Eagles Sevens preseason training tour in New Zealand. Head coach Emilie Bydwell named Maher in a 15-player squad competing at an invitational tournament in Mount Maunganui. Maher has been away from the pitch since the final pool stage of the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 against Samoa.
The USA team will face Australia, Japan, France, Fiji, and a New Zealand Development squad during the event. Maher, who helped the Eagles secure an Olympic bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Games, joins teammates including captain Kristi Kirshe as the program builds preparation toward the LA28 Olympic cycle.
