Coach JP Pietersen has backed Gianni Lombard to cope with the pressure of the Sharks No 10 jersey in Friday night’s URC clash against Cardiff at the Arms Park.

Sharks coach JP Pietersen has backed Gianni Lombard to handle the flyhalf role in Friday's United Rugby Championship match against Cardiff at the Arms Park. Lombard becomes the team's third starting flyhalf in three games following injuries to Vusi Moyo and Jordan Hendrikse. Pietersen praised Lombard's experience and preparation leading into the European fixture.
The Sharks are reinforced by five returning Springboks, with captain André Esterhuizen, Ethan Hooker, and Edwill van der Merwe in the starting lineup. Ox Nché and Thomas du Toit feature on the bench after resting during the team's 40-33 victory in France.
