Maia Roos, Santo Taumata, Georgia Ponsonby, Ruahei Demant and Ayesha Leti-I'iga are the only players in the current Black Ferns squad to have beaten England in a Test match.

Maia Roos has stated that the New Zealand Black Ferns must prepare to go to dark places ahead of their clash with England's Red Roses. Roos is one of only five players in the current squad who played in New Zealand's 34-31 Rugby World Cup final victory over England in November 2022. Since then, England has established a 40-match unbeaten run, which recently included a 26-26 draw against Canada.
New Zealand enters the fixture in strong form, having won all seven of their Tests in 2026 by an aggregate score of 336-101. Roos, who now holds 45 caps after gaining experience with Trailfinders Women in England's Premiership Women's Rugby, highlighted the necessity of discipline and physicality to counteract England's forward strength and maul.
