The Story in 60 Seconds

Sale Sharks back rower Jacques Vermeulen has received a four-match suspension following a red card in his side's 21-17 victory over Saracens at StoneX Stadium. The 31-year-old was sent off after making contact with the head of Saracens scrum-half Tomos Williams in the 18th minute while attempting to clear out a ruck.

Vermeulen accepted the charge before an independent disciplinary panel chaired by Daniel Gore. He received no ban reduction due to a previous dangerous tackle charge in the 2024/25 season and having already attended tackle school, ruling him out of upcoming fixtures against Harlequins, Glasgow Warriors, Newcastle, and Bath.
