Sam Warburton has revealed why he retired, the offer that tempted him back and his regret over Wales' 2019 World Cup campaign

Former Wales captain Sam Warburton has revealed the reasons behind his 2018 retirement at age 29, including discussions with Warren Gatland and an offer to return. Speaking on his SW7 YouTube channel, Warburton explained that physical wear and tear, including surgeries on his neck, knee, and shoulder, left him unable to continue at the level required for the 2019 World Cup.
Warburton also disclosed that a club chairman offered him a comeback a year later, but he declined after speaking with his wife. Away from the sport, Warburton is pursuing business ventures, with his fitness brand SW7 Gyms, co-founded with Andrew Jones, set to open a site at Stride Park in Llanishen, Cardiff, in 2027.
