Nineteen-year-old James Pater is making an impact at Northampton Saints as he steps into the role previously held by England full-back George Furbank. Following Furbank's departure to Harlequins at the end of last season, Pater seized an opportunity to break into the champions' backline.
Pater capitalized on the opening by scoring a hat-trick in Northampton's 59-26 victory over the Newcastle Red Bulls. The young full-back described Furbank as a long-time role model and noted that his former teammate's exit presented both a positive and negative situation for him.
